"What single piece more eloquently encapsulates the history of a heritage and events that have shaped the modern world than a piece of cloth?"

Concept statement: 'Shahr-i-Ghulghilah- City of Silence or Scream, inspired by the Hazara tribe, is the theme for this collection, and it takes on a journey connected to the history of Bamyan, Afghanistan (1st century till the 21st century). The theme revolves around the long-standing struggles of the Hazara community in Afghanistan, including religious conflicts, political disputes and never-ending war scenes. The collection calls people to go through the narrative of Hazara heritage through Hijjab’s imagination. Philosophy of history, visual abstraction and realistic works of art are all based on chronicles. The figurines who portray the Hazara community in the drawings are depicted as demons and angles as drawn by the Hazara artist. Since their character in the real world are often described as rebellious, fierce, and ambitious.

Hijjab Waqar Hussain

Hijjab Waqar Hussain, the founder and the creative director of Rūḥ. This collection was created by hijjab during her last year of bachelor's (hons) and was presented in London Fashion Week' 23. Her signature style reflects the portrayal and resurgence of history and culture of lost norms and communities, elevating them into modern world.
